Albert Mandel: Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Dzidzia, Uncle, Friend…
Dad was small and mighty. He was honest and fair, loving and kind, clever and creative, a faithful Catholic. He was Mom’s lifelong dance partner. They loved ballroom dancing to their favorite song Tenderly by Nat King Cole.
Dad loved the family farm and how it brought a oneness with our earth through gardening, woodworking, honeybees, and at one-point worms. This legacy will live on.
He loved the outdoors, backpacking, skiing, canoeing, camping, hunting, and fishing. Mostly he loved sharing the adventures up mountains and down rivers with his family and friends.
Dad was a utilitarian creative thinker and loved to tinker. He worked a long automotive engineering career designing hardware and safety parts that each of us unknowingly used in our own vehicles.
Dad loved his family and his friends. He was involved with Scouts, National Ski Patrol, and Marriage Encounter. He was never too busy for anyone and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He always found room for one more and had time to get back to the basics.
Albert was the beloved husband of Pat for over 67 years and dear father of Catherine (Randy) Gallagher, Martha (Douglas) Beard, James (Rose) Mandel, Ruth (Richard) Dunn, and Paul (Loretta) Mandel. Albert is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was the last sibling of 10 children.
