Alexander Kiryl Spakoff passed away at age 93 on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. He was born on March 24th, 1927 in Hamtramck, Michigan to Cora and Anickey Shpakoff. Al was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Emily V. Spakoff (nee: Wayes), his brothers Ossip (Agnes), Samuel (Helen), James, William and sister Frances. He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Spakoff, Debbie (Mark) Swartz, and Shari (Frank) Spakoff and granddaughter Natalya Swartz. In August of 1945, Al was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served in World War II until he was honorably discharged in December of 1946. After his service, he enrolled in the Detroit Institute of Engineering and Technology and pursued a career as a draftsman at Brooks and Perkins. After 30+ years at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, he retired to spend time with his family and play more golf. Al loved the game of golf and could out golf his nephews even in his 90s. When he wasn’t on the course, he enjoyed being with his family, playing pinochle, wood working, growing trees and tomatoes from seed and saplings, exercising and socializing at the Livonia Senior Center. Al had a great sense of humor (he loved to joke), a generous spirit and a huge heart. He was always there when you needed him; lending a hand and offering support. He was also known to own two of everything, offer his unsolicited opinions and tell you what to do (and how you should do it)! We will miss that. Al was strong in faith and always believed something wonderful was about to happen. He was a living miracle. Visitation Sunday June 28, 2020 from 1 to 8 PM at Wysocki Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Rd., Warren, MI 48092. The family requests masks be worn for visitation.
