Carolyn "Bunny" (Hornung) Wenner

Carolyn Jean Wenner, of Huntington Woods, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the age of 82, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Born on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1942, she was affectionately known as “Bunny.” The second eldest of ten children, she grew up with a strong sense of family and community. She carried these values throughout her life, becoming a wonderful mother to her six children and proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren.

While devoted to raising her family, Carolyn also earned a BA in Accounting and MBA in Finance from Wayne State University. She then went on to have a distinguished professional career in accounting, cash management and tax.

Bunny’s smile could light up a room, and her sassy spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She believed in the goodness of people and held the conviction that anyone could achieve their dreams with hard work and perseverance. Her positive outlook and unwavering support inspired many who had the privilege of knowing her.  She leaves a legacy of love, support, and belief in the potential of others that will continue to inspire those who are lucky enough to have been part of her journey.

Carolyn is survived by her six children, Sue (Rick) Marvin, Ken Wenner, Cynthia (Dennis LaMaster) Wenner, Paula Conroy, Jim (Hilary) Wenner, and Karen (Rick) Soper; her 13 grandchildren, Wayne, Sarah, Christopher, Maya, Eli, Noah, Quinn, Casey, Cooper, Allison, Kristin, Owen, and Simon; and her siblings Tom (Sue), Jerry (Barb), Bob (Cathy), Chris (Jim), Ken, Ron, Jean (Brent), and brother-in-law Kevin.  She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Colette Hornung, her siblings Mary, Ted, and in-laws Chuck, Sally, Cindy, Beth, and Dona.

Her family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her dearly.

To celebrate Carolyn’s life and honor her memory, a memorial gathering and service will be held on August 8, 2024. Visiting will start at 4:00 p.m. and continue until the 6:00 p.m. memorial service at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Road, Warren, Michigan.

The family requests any donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Carolyn’s honor.
