Chester P. Gorski

September 25, 1936 — March 5, 2021

Warren, Michigan

Chester Paul Gorski, age 84, a longtime resident of Warren, MI passed away peacefully on March 5, 2021 with his loving wife, Trudy (Mary Frances Bugnacki) by his side.

Chester was born on September 25, 1936 to the late Chester J. and Marie (nee: Sienkiewicz) in Detroit, MI. He was an extremely attentive and loving son to his parents. He was a student at St. Joseph High School when he enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserves where he served for 4 years. After he graduated in 1954. he served 4 years of Active Duty on the Cutter Kaw.

In 1955, Chet joined Cadillac as an assembly line worker and then was offered a pipefitter apprenticeship. He worked his way up to journeyman where he trained many apprentices under him, made many lifelong friends and was still in contact with many of them up until his passing. After 46 years, he retired from Cadillac in 2001.

After 16 years of dating, Chet and Trudy were married on April 11, 1969 with a whopping 500+ guests in attendance. During their years of dating, Chet worked midnights and Trudy worked days, so when they weren't able to see each other, Chet would call Trudy and say, "I Just Called to Say, I Love You." This year they would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Together, they built a wonderful life filled with lots of love and laughter. In 1975, they welcomed their only child, Lynette Marie, into the world. Chet was the best daddy a girl could ask for. He never missed a game, dance, or band recital. As a family, they camped across the country in their camper. Later in life, they traveled around the country to many Red Wing games and took 2 beautiful cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. After retirement, Chet and Trudy built a 2nd home in the woods of mid-Michigan, where they spent a lot of their time.

In 1998, Chet walked his daughter, Lyn, down the aisle to marry John Sopala, whom he loved like his own son. In 2009, he was excited to become a grandparent to Aubrey Lyn, his only grandchild. He was the most amazing Papa to Aubrey and she learned so much from him. He never missed any of her games, recitals, or school functions. He loved hanging out with her, talking to her on the phone and especially taking her up north. Their bond was extremely special and unbreakable.

Chester was extremely blessed with many friends and family members who he tried to see or talk to as often as he could. He was "quite the storyteller" and had a great sense of humor that will be missed greatly by all.

Chet wanted to give back after his death and, through Gift of Life, was able to donate his skin to be used to treat burn victims in the military. Per his wishes, there will not be a viewing and he will be cremated. At a later date, there will be a memorial service to celebrate his life and he will be interred with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Chet's name to the American Heart Association, The Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Gift of Life of Michigan, or a Military Non-Profit.

Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who have been with him on this journey these last 6 months. You are true heroes and we cannot thank you enough for everything you did for Chester.

Chester is survived by his wife, Trudy; daughter, Lyn (John) Sopala; and granddaughter, Aubrey; along with many friends and family.
