Concetta E. (Petrilli) Wesolowski

November 22, 1927 — March 1, 2023

Warren, Michigan

Concetta was born in Jeanette, Pennsylvania, on November 22nd, 1927. Her parents had immigrated to the United Stares from Italy, and settled in eastern Pennsylvania, but the young family soon moved to Michigan after her father was offered a good job in Detroit.

Concetta met the love of her life in high school Chemistry class. Arthur Wesolowski was an intelligent and determined young man who had plans to go to college and become a teacher.  Over the next ten years, their relationship blossomed, even though there were several break-ups and reconciliations during that time. Nevertheless, their love grew stronger and stronger, and they decided that they wanted to be together forever.  However, their wedding had to be delayed as Arthur was drafted into the Army.  He served his country with pride but was eager to get back home to the woman that he loved.  When he returned back to the states, Arthur and Concetta finally married on September 3rd, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan.  In August of 1959, they joyfully welcomed their only daughter, Madelyn, into the world.  Concetta and Arthur were together until his death in October of 2019.

Concetta attended Nursing School at Mercy College in Detroit, and received her Bachelor's Degree in the early 1950's.  She taught some college nursing classes after she graduated, and she thoroughly enjoyed mentoring her young students.  She also worked as a Registered Nurse for approximately 30 years, with her longest position being at Holy Cross Hospital in Detroit.  Concetta truly loved taking care of her patients, and they appreciated her unending empathy and kindness.  She was well loved by both her co-workers and those under her care.

Concetta was a woman who loved life.  She embraced each and every moment and found joy in even the simplest of things - such as eating bananas.  Concetta loved bananas!  She couldn't get enough of them.  She also loved M and M's (particularly the peanut ones)!

Concetta was a very strong woman and got through some very challenging health issues.  She always maintained a positive outlook and had a deep faith that carried her through some very difficult times.  She loved her family immensely and would do anything for them.  When her grandson, Richard, was born in May of 1992, she joyfully babysat him two days a week, and became a huge influence in his life.

Concetta was loving, kind, caring, understanding, generous, and loyal. She was also an animal lover, having grown up with pet dogs all throughout her childhood.  When she and Arthur married, they decided to get a cat, and this then led to them owning many more cats throughout their lives.

Concetta is survived by her daughter, Madelyn Wesolowski-Le Page (Thomas), and her grandson, Richard Collier Le Page (Jesica).  She also leaves behind a dear family friend, Bernadette, and a long-time caregiver, Sue.

If you would like to further honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in her name to New Beginnings Animal Rescue ( www.nbarmichigan.org ), 2502 Rochester Rd, Royal Oak, MI.
