Elizabeth Violet (Puscas) Fisco

July 10, 1936 — July 1, 2023

Elizabeth Violet Fisco, age 86, passed away July 1, 2023.

On July 10th, 1936, Elizabeth Violet Fisco was born to Sarah May Wilmot and Nicholea Puscas and God smiled. She soon attained the nickname of "LIttlebit" as she was the youngest of the Puscas clan behind siblings Veronica, Nicholas, Lena, Mary, Flora, Victoria, George and Steve. She loved sharing stories growing up working the cash register in the family grocery store, "Nick's Groceries". Laughing about sneaking candy and ice cream at night and eating the family profits. Her sweet tooth began here and her amazing quick-witted math skills. As a little girl, sisters Flo and Vicki would compete at who could dress her the cutest. Her flair for fashion extended throughout her life. One day in particular, looking pretty chic at a roaring dance hall in Detroit, she met the man of her dreams. It just took one dance and "Ciao Bella" from a dark and handsome man named Nino to sweep her off her feet. The rest is history. She married Nino on September 20th, 1956. They soon moved into their first house on Orleans Street in Detroit. Soon after in 1960, their first child Lisa arrived. Shortly after the suburbs called their name and it was off to the city of Warren. Ernie arrived in 1965 and Carla in 1971. She became very active in community and school groups, a parishioner at St. Louise Catholic Church for over 50 years, member of Christian Women, volunteering at numerous senior centers, loved her pinochle groups, Belly dancing, tennis and was hard to beat at bowling. She was a seriously good cook, made a mean red sauce, mouth watering cakes and homemade pasta and always made enough to feed the neighborhood! Every Sunday she would host a family dinner where family members would gather and feast on her delicious pastas, Nino's BBQ and homemade wine. All this while managing the business end of Nino's Home Improvement company. In 1982, she suddenly lost Nino and started a new and unexpected chapter of her life as a single Mom. While working numerous jobs and raising Ernie and Carla, she earned her Associate Degree. Soon a new career as an Administrative Assistant begun at Met Life Insurance. More than anything Elizabeth loved her Grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren Jacob, (Sarah), Jared (Samantha), Jeremy (Samantha), Brenna, Christian, Ben and Bella. California and the city of Kalamazoo became her second home throughout the years visiting her grandchildren and attending many of their school and sporting events. Elizabeth lived her life as a shining example of the Golden Rule and loved God with all her heart. Her kindness will stay with us forever. She LOVED to laugh, especially with her Grandchildren. Soon after she moved to Kalamazoo, MI in 2019, she had her first stroke which greatly impaired her health. Then the morning of July 1st, 2023, a massive stroke became her last battle and she was called home. She was surrounded and loved by family until the very end.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Nino Fisco, her parents; Sarah May Wilmot and Nicholea Puscas; siblings Veronica (John), Nicholas (Sally),Lena, Mary, Flora (Romeo), Victoria (Chip), George and Steve; Father and Mother-in-law Carlo Fisco and Sylvia Fioritto Fisco, brother and sisters in laws; Dante (Delia), Cesare, Alba, Elvira, Maria, Gino.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish in her loving memory her children; Lisa, Ernest (Donna), Carla (Todd); Grandchildren Jacob (Sarah), Jared (Samantha), Jeremy (Samantha), Brenna, Christian, Ben and Bella; Sisters and Brother-in-law; Delphine Puscas, Diana Lucchese, Edda Capretta (Nino), Siamak Nazerieh.

And a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

You will be greatly missed Mom, Nanna . . . our beautiful Elizabeth rest in peace.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.  All these things are gone forever."
