James Edward Flowers

James Edward Flowers, affectionately known as Jim, was born on January 29, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, and departed this life on December 7, 2024, in Madison Heights, Michigan. He was a shining beacon of kindness, characterized by his heart of gold and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Jim found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, particularly when it came to his love for all the major Detroit sports teams. His enthusiasm and passion for sports reflected his deep-rooted connection to his hometown and brought him much happiness. Jim also had a strong connection with animals. The empathy and care he showed his many pet cats over the years was a testament to his kind and giving nature.

Throughout his life, Jim's compassionate nature was evident in his proudest accomplishments. On a few occasions, he donated his hair to cancer patients, exemplifying his commitment to giving. In a final act of generosity, he contributed to Gift of Life Michigan, ensuring that his legacy of kindness would continue beyond his lifetime.

Jim is survived by his devoted companion, Sandy McAleer, and his loving family, which includes his father, William E. Flowers; sisters, Shirley Flowers and Sharron (Steve) Widzinski; brothers, Robert Daniel (Tewe) Flowers and Ron Flowers; along with a host of other supportive family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Flowers. 

Jim’s impact on the lives of those around him will be felt for years to come, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
