Joanne Marie Parol

Joanne Marie Parol, a beloved matriarch and vibrant soul, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, in Sterling Heights, Michigan, at the age of 102. Born on July 29, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan, Joanne filled the lives of those around her with warmth, love, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on her family and community.

A people person at heart, Joanne had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She was generous with her time and talents, always grateful for what she received from others while continuously giving of herself in return. Joanne’s love for her family was paramount, and she cherished each moment spent with them. Her legacy lives on in her daughter, Colette (Richard) Powers; her son, David Parol; her son, Kevin (Marie) Parol; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Parol. She was also survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her nurturing spirit.

Joanne's passions extended beyond her family; she was an avid reader, often found lost in the pages of a book. Her creativity flourished through knitting, sewing, and painting, with nearly everyone in her life having received one of her cherished artworks. Joanne found joy and fulfillment in her involvement with the St. Mark Seniors Club, where she spent countless hours traveling and participating in activities that enriched her life and the lives of others.

Faith was the cornerstone of Joanne’s existence. As a founding member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Warren, Michigan, she devoted her energies to her community of faith. Her righteous spirit shone brightly as a catechism teacher and a key member of the altar society, showcasing her unwavering dedication to serving others.

Joanne is reunified in eternal peace with her loving husband, Joseph Parol; her son, James Parol; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Parol. Their cherished memories envelop her family, reminding them of the laughter, wisdom, and love that defined her remarkable life.

A visitation will be held in her honor on January 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. A Mass celebrating her incredible life will take place at St. Mark Catholic Church on January 7, 2025, with the instate starting at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.

In celebrating her legacy, we remember Joanne Marie Parol not only as a loving mother and grandmother but as a beacon of kindness and faith in a world that often needs more of it. She will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
