John F. Wilson

February 23, 1960 — April 2, 2022

John Frederick Wilson, age 62, passed away on April 2nd, 2022 surrounded by family after a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.
John was the beloved husband of Mira for 26 years. He was the son of David Wilson and the dear Son-In-Law of Henry and Bozenna Rozkowski. He was loved by his sisters Laurie (Mike) Boutorwick and Sue (Evan) King.  He was the brother-in-law of Anne (Tom) Brandt and Carl (Allison) Rozkowski. He loved his two nephews Bobby and Matthew Boutorwick.
John was born in Ottawa, Canada and moved to the United States when he was 14 years old. He enlisted in the Army at age 17 and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He became an excellent skier and as a result, he was made part of the Army's Ski Patrol. Once he was discharged, John came back to Michigan to help his family. He bought a house and began working at Webasto Sunroofs in Auburn Hills, MI.
John was employed with Webasto Sunroofs for 35 years. He started out on the production line and due to his strong work ethic and dedication to the company, he was quickly promoted to be Webasto's local Truck Driver. John loved being a truck driver. He was always looking for ways to improve efficiency in his supplier pick-ups. He went from having 5 supplier pick-ups to 23 supplier pick-ups per week. This increase saved his company $207,000 per year. He never missed work and was given a Perfect Attendance Award every quarter. He was awarded Ryders Truck Driver of the Year Award, and was always willing to drop everything for a "hot" run. His manager once stated that "he approached each work day as if it were his first" due to his positive attitude and energy.
John's greatest love was hockey. He was an excellent skater who could play any position. John could skate backward as fast as he could skate forward and he was great at winning his face-offs. His wrist-shot was so hard that he once cracked a plastic hockey puck in two. His earliest childhood memory was of himself skating on a pond in Canada at 4 years old. It was not uncommon for John to be on 3 or 4 teams each season. He loved the sport so much that he started a hockey team at Webasto Sunroofs and due to his coaching, they had an undefeated season. In addition to playing, he also loved to coach hockey. John coached his nephew Bobby for many years in Travel Hockey. He was always willing to teach anyone who was interested to skate and play the sport.
John was a happy, easy-going, unselfish, caring man who always had a smile or a joke for anyone he met.  He will be missed by all who knew him. As his wife, he was the love of my life, my best friend and the rock in our relationship. He always supported me in any crazy goal I wanted to achieve. I looked forward to coming home to him and spending time with him. Our marriage was comfortable and easy and I loved just being next to him. When he became sick he never complained or got angry or cried. He took every increasing disability in stride and continued forward in life until his body couldn't do it anymore. I am in awe of him for that. He taught our entire family how to quietly bear the cross that life gives you. John will be forever missed. Rest in Peace John...you deserve it.
