Mona M. Jones

Mona M. Jones (nee: Henkels), age 89, passed away September 21, 2018.

Mona Henkels graduated from Xavier High School in Dyersville, Iowa in 1947. She then went to Chicago and studied piano at the American Conservatory of Music. She married Jarvis Jones, now deceased, in 1949. They moved to the Detroit area, and Mona was organist at St. Leonard's Church in Warren. She studied piano at the Detroit Institute of Musical Art. She gave a dedicatory piano recital at Roosevelt School in Warren. In 1966 she attended Wayne State and studied Vocal Music and Piano. She taught in the Utica School System from 1970 - 1991.

Because Jarvis opened a store in Livonia, they moved to Farmington Hills. She was organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church when Pastor Unger was Pastor. In 2005 they moved to a condo in Sterling Heights.

Mona was the beloved wife of the late Jarvis Frederick Jones; loving mother of Jocelyn (James) Mayes, Bradley Jones, Dennis Jones, Adrianne (Mark) Steiner, and the late Brian Jones who passed away in 1980; devoted grandmother of Joel (Debbie) Szymanski, Chad (Abbie) Szymanski, Sean (Stacy) Steiner, Jeremy (Michal) Steiner, Matthew (Danielle) Steiner, Nathan (Yumiko) Steiner, Christopher Jones, Stephanie Williams, and Caroline Jones; proud great-grandmother of 13; and dear sister of Ruth Lombardo.

Visitation Sunday, September 30, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David Wysocki Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Road, Warren. Instate Monday, October 1, 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Warren.
